BREAKING: Two killed, several injured as police, okada riders clash in Lagos

There are heavy gunshots going on in Ogba, Ikeja area of Lagos which started in the morning hours of today, Friday, May 7, 2021.

Unconfirmed sources told this newspaper that two commercial motorcycle (Okada) riders have allegedly been killed by policemen from the Ogba Area Command of Lagos State, leaving residents in panic.

According to residents, the police officers, who are officials of the state task force, were in the area to enforce the ban on motorcycle riders along some major roads in the state.

The motorcycle riders were said to have resisted the task force officials, while one of the police officers was alleged to have shot a rider. This was said to have escalated the clash between the policemen and the riders.

The riders have now reacted violently to revenge the death of their colleagues.

Gunshots were still being heard as at the time of filing this report shortly before noon.
