The formal launch of the book, ‘The Black Dragon’, a fictional work authored by a 16-year-old boy, Bemiwo Adesina, will hold on Sunday, 25th July, in Lagos.

The Black Dragon is a fictional work containing many moral lessons that everyone, especially the young generation could learn from for their own betterment. The book was published in Nigeria in 2020, by Makere.

Speaking on the launch of the book, Bemiwo, who is presently a student of Lifeforte International High School, Apete, Ibadan, said: “I am delighted to be launching my maiden book; it is a significant contribution to the body of knowledge. This book is a product of my passion for reading and writing.’’

‘‘The Black Dragon is a fictional work that contains a lot of moral lessons that my peers and young adults could learn from. I hope that this will encourage more teenagers to key into their literal abilities and skills. I appreciate the love and support of my parents which has made this book a reality,” he added.

The author’s father, Surveyor Ayokunnu Adesina, a director in the Office of the State Surveyor General, Alausa- Ikeja, said the book is a testament of God’s blessings and faithfulness in his family, adding that the book launch will serve as a platform to celebrate the family’s 35 years’ journey.

He said: “The book launch is two days before Bemiwo’s birthday. The event will be a celebration of 35 years’ of love, tolerance, perseverance, and God’s faithfulness to our family. The Black Dragon is a testimony of our fruitfulness as parents. The author is a divine gift to us. The story of his birth is special. And it’s what we would be sharing with guests at the launch.”

In demonstration of his vision to serve as a source of motivation for his peers, Bemiwo has embarked on a number of initiatives to impact young persons, ahead of the July 25th launch. Recently, he donated copies of the book to his alma maters, Avi-Cenna International School, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos and Oakdale Infant and Junior Mixed School, Ogba, Lagos respectively.

Principal of Avi-Cenna International School, Mrs. Adeolu Adesanya, while receiving copies of the book, described the author as a good reference point for the Nigerian child, saying that several students would draw inspiration from reading the book.

“Bemiwo Adesina, with this book, has shown a good example for Nigerian secondary school students as to what they can do when they dedicate themselves to learning and working to sharpen their talents and skills. The Black Dragon will surely serve as motivation for many of our students, especially because the author is, not only a student like them but also in their age bracket,” she said.

Bemiwo was born on 27th July 2004. His penchant for reading and writing led him to venture into the writing world, which culminated in his debut published work, The Black Dragon.
