Governors Babagana Zulum and Hope Uzodimma of Borno and Imo respectively have voted, lauding the electoral process and the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

Gov. Zulum voted at his Ajari polling unit 006 in Mafa town, the headquarters of Mafa Local Government Area of the state at about 12 p.m.

Speaking after voting, Zulum expressed satisfaction with the voting process at his unit, describing it as hitch-free.

“I just cast my vote here at my polling unit, and based on what I have seen so far, the voting process is going on smoothly.

“It has taken a very short time for me to be accredited and cast my vote, I believe the other polling units will be like this one,” Zulum said.

He also expressed delight at the voter turnout in Mafa and urged citizens to exercise their franchise in a peaceful and orderly manner.

Zulum however noted that few complaints were received in Maiduguri associated with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines.

“I have received some complaints in Maiduguri regarding BVAS, so while I commend what I have seen here, I can’t talk of the entire state until I get reports from our agents from the 27 local government areas,” Zulum told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

In the same vein, Gov. Hope Uzodimma who voted at the Ozuh Omuma ward 10, polling unit 010 in Imo State commended INEC for introducing the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

INEC officials arrived at exactly 10:35 am while voting commenced at 10:54 am at the voting centre.

The governor, who stormed the polling unit in the company of his wife, Mrs Chioma Uzodimma, described the BVAS as “the best for now.”

“I came and within two-three minutes, I went through accreditation, collected my ballot papers and voted.

“My wife has done the same thing. I must commend the process.

“There’s a little bit of improvement and a departure from what we used to have to a more prudent and efficient thing. There’s no perfection here on earth. Only God is perfect.

“I advise our people not to look for faults but to embrace change and innovations toward national development,” Uzodimma noted.

The governor blamed the voter apathy recorded in some Local Government Areas of the state on the insecurity problems.
